4/21/18 Lt. William C. Ryan Memorial Bridge (Midtown Bridge) Rededication Ceremony

Great honor to be able to attend The Lt. William C. Ryan Memorial Bridge (Midtown Bridge) Rededication Ceremony. The bridge is in the name of Bogota native and local hero, USMC 1st Lieutenant William Ryan. We honored Lt. Ryan at our 2017 POW/MIA Ceremony at the County!

The Midtown Bridge was first dedicated in Ryan’s honor in 1980 after his plane was shot down in Laos May 11, 1969. Lieutenant Ryan had been considered missing in action until earlier 2017, when the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency was able to identify his remains using DNA recovered from the crash site. His remains were buried in Arlington National Cemetery on May 10, 2017. We can never truly repay Lt. Ryan and his family for their service and sacrifice, but we can honor Billy Ryan by making sure he and his heroism are remembered.
