 Short Bio :
US Army PFC Justin Crowell, 20, is from Phoenixville and has seen his share of hard times. Having lost his birth mother at an early age, he was raised by his grandmother, who died 2 years ago in the same month as his high school graduation. Without close family and a means to attend college, he decided in the summer of 2010 to enlist in the US Army to provide a stepping stone to that end and better himself in the process. In between taking the oath on his own and leaving for basic training, Justin crossed paths with a volunteer who had worked with youth in Phoenixville for 20 years; by the time Justin left for Basic training last January he had someone in his life who cared for him like a mother…and this mother-son type of bond, along with the love and support of others in the community, has taken him through a 6 month deployment in Kandahar, Afghanistan as a Combat Engineer with the 55th MAC. He is returning to Philadelphia after 7 months away…to many who now embrace him as family, not the least of which is the one he now calls “Mom”.
HowardK has stepped up to RC this mission, again Howard I THANK YOU !!

  • Justin's Mom

We were overwhelmed today by all that the Hero’s Welcome and Warriors Watch Team brought to Justin’s Homecoming earlier today. What an awesome sight to have you arrive in all your glory on this blistery cold day…but the warmth you shared with us by your genuine care and support was really unparalleled. Your mission goal of making each soldier feeling appreciated and welcomed home is one that is met with a sense of pride, family, and sheer joy in what you do.
Thank you Howard for all your extra help in coordinating this….and to each and every one of you; be safe, and continue on in this work because it truly makes a difference in the lives of our soldiers and their loved ones. God Bless you times a million……Justin’s Mom
