ADDED BONUS ON THIS MISSION!!! A few months back we were asked by a Marine wife to welcome her husband home from his deployment to Afghanistan, we were not able to work out the arrangements at that time but Lt. Col. Larry Henigan will be attending this event tomorrow. He is now retired but has given the country and the Marine Corps 27 years of his life.. we’d like to thank him for his ” Service, Sacrifice and Dedication to the Preservation of OUR Freedom!” tomorrow.. please join us at Gorgas Park to not only welcome the Vets from Coatesville but to say Welcome Home to Lt. Col. Larry Henigan.

Place: Gorgas Park, Ridge Avenue and Hermitage Street, Philadelphia, PA 19128
Date: Saturday July 28, 2012 – 10am until 3pm

The Warriors’ Watch Riders will escort hospitalized Vets from Coatesville Veteran’s Hospital. A Hero’s Welcome will stand in a flag line as they arrive to welcome the Veteran’s to the event. This may be the first Welcome Home some of these veterans have ever received! Please join us to show our appreciation to these un-sung Heroes.

Other events of the day:

Operation Bedding will host a Flea Market (7:00 am) / All proceeds to benefit Operation Bedding in support of our troops. Operation Bedding has deployed more than 10,000 care packages to our troops deployed through out the world.
9:30 am
Classic Cars and Military vehicles will be positioned in Gorgas Park and will remain on display for our veterans and community throughout the day.
10:00 am
All activities in place and ready to go.
Activities and tables include information from numerous community and civic groups.
Music, face painting, Classic cars. Local Boy and Girl Scout troops along with many members of our community will assemble to form the flag lined “Walk of Honor” for our visiting VIP’s from the Coatesville VA Medical center. This has been a major part of the event as people gather to welcome our veterans.
10:30
Veterans from Coatesville VA Medical hospital arrive with a motorcycle escort from numerous veterans groups including Operation Bedding, Warriors Watch, Hero’s Welcome, Legion Riders and more. Classic cars from the Ridge Runners will also escort the bus carrying our guests. Each hospitalized veteran will be greeted as they are escorted through the walk of honor to their seats for the concert and picnic.
11:00 am
Merion Concert Band with more than 50 volunteer members under the direction of Nathan Snyder will conduct music consisting of show tunes, classical, and patriotic arrangements. The Merion Concert Band has been performing this concert since the inception of the event.
Noon
Old Academy Players will perform a scene from their popular series of one act plays. This has become a favorite portion for our veterans.
1:00 pm
Merion Concert Band with more than 50 volunteer members under the direction of Nathan Snyder will conduct their second set of musical arrangements consisting of show tunes, classical, and patriotic arrangements.
2:00 pm
Coatesville veterans depart.
The veterans will depart and be escorted through the Walk of Honor were the community will again thank our warriors for their service to our country. Operation Bedding will provide each veteran with a care package to return to the hospital.
